significant retention in the collecting system

Ive had many kidney stones and I see a urologist for this. My family Dr sent me for a kidney scan trying to find a reason for my high blood pressure. It showed some irregularities so she sent me to a nephrology and hypertention specialist. The test shows a fairly significant retention in the collecting system. The specialist said "its probably damage from the stones, oh well, I'll just treat you for run of the mill hypertention."
So, should I see my urologist about this retention, or is it nothing?
Any ideas??

Nancy,

This retention in the collecting system is known as Hydronephrosis and can be very damaging to your kidneys if not treated promptly. You must see your urologist/nephrologist urgently and push for more answers.

I don't want you to be terrified by this as hydronephrosis can be easily treated in most cases and kidney function can be preserved if prompt action taken.

Best wishes

Ian,
Thank You!!
The nephrologist is the one that said "oh well", like it was no big deal.
I'll call my urologist tomorrow.
Thank you so very much!

My feet and ankles are swelling like crazy. Could that be from my kidney problem? I've tried everything to get the swelling down and nothing helps.
Any ideas what will help?

Nancy ;)
