first aid room

In reply to Mike's posting re. first aid rooms. The need to provide a first aid room at a place of employment is not absolute. However, the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require an employer must carry out an assessment to determine the facilities that they need to provide to meet the circumstances of their workplace. If this assessment determines that the circumstances are such that a first aid room is required, then one should be provided. Nonetheless given the diversity and the risks associated with activities that go on within a University, and the number of people present, I cannot imagine how a University could come to the conclusion in their assessment that a first aid room was not needed.
It could be argued (if someone decided to be incredibly pedantic) that dialysis should not be carried out in a first aid room as this should be reserved for first aid only.
for these reasons, I am not sure that Health and Safety at Work Regs are the best way of approaching this JenJen, and would think that for your personal circumstances that the DDA is the more relevant legislation to throw their way if necessary.
