Hi

You mention that you are on pred to keep the kidneys in check. Is it working? I mean, does it keep the protein loss in check? They tried that for me...for over a year now.and it hasn't worked..but I was wondering if it was for you. It would abate my protein loss a bit.but not enough....I still think that had I started the pred a long time ago..say seven years ago when they mentioned it might be necessary if the kidneys got worse..that I might have had success using pred to control my disease..by the time I started pred last year..it was too late I guess..and it hasn't done much of anything.

I was just wondering how long ago you started the pred...like how far into your disease diagnosis..and what dose you take...where your protein levels stand as a result

Hi,
The Prednisone has actually done nothing for the protein spillage. It has brought my creatnine down for a short time, then recently it went back up again, not alot (1.4 to 1.9) US It was working well at high doses and then with the taper, it went up. Doses were slightly increased again and if creatnine does not go down again within 3 weeks, I will be going back to higher doses. I am currently at 10 mg. I will keep you informed of the progression this takes when I hear anything new. By the way my protein spillage has always remained pretty steady at around 3+. At one time it was 6+, but this was before taking ANY meds. Hope this is helpful to you.

Well

I have been losing as much as 11-15 grams a day even on prednisone..when on a high dose it abates a bit..like to seven..but really anything over 3+ was considered not worth keeping me on this..so in effect I had a result from it..but not the desired result..that said, i have still been on them for over a year.and am awaiting a kidney now..sure does make one tired losing all that protein!!
