PatientView Results

Post by Birdman »

Hello,

I am Mrs Birdman. Unfortunately Birdman has been through the mill. The parathoidectomy was successful, but they had real problems removing a drain, and he lost a lot of blood. Like it took literally hours to staunch the bleeding. They had to change the bed twice whilst trying to do so. Then his calcium levels were so erratic they kept him in hospital for an extra 3 days. After he came home, we had 2 days of him eating well (he needs building up) and getting good sleep. Then Sunday night he had a heart attack and is now back in hospital. Terrible time.

I am extremely worried as you can imagine. But I have what I think is a very relevant question.

I have always monitored his bloods via PatientView as I am sure many of you do. But whilst he has been in hospital, he has had more than one set per day.

My question is how can you tell the order of multiple bloods in one day? There seems no logic to it. For instance, when he has normal full bloods on dialysis it is easy to tell which set are the before and after, cos it says "pre" or "post", even though they can appear on the chart in either order. But up to 3 sets a day have been taken in hospital, and there is no indication of which order they were taken in. Does anybody know if there is an easy way of finding out without worrying the hospital please?

Hi,
You may find what you need here http://help.patientview.org/patientview ... st_results

If you graph the results the system has to sort the order out (if it is known) to produce the graph, from the graph you can then see which values came first, second, and so on.

Or contact them and ask.

I would think that results from the time in hospital are not of much interest because so much was going on, results after or on leaving will be the most useful.

Whilst I do not have access to PV, I do graph my results because it is the trends that are the most useful, rather than any individual result.

Best wishes to you both.
