Starting PD

Post by igor1974 »

I'm due to have a PD catheter fitted in a couple of weeks.

Any advise, hints or warnings from experienced PDer's please?

My Father and my aunt (his sister) both used CAPD in the early 90s, it seemed to suit them better than Haemo Dialysis. They both had a room devoted to the procedure and had a very strict hygiene regime. it seemed to work well.
Good luck, hope it suits you too.

Thank you John. I started CAPD on the 28th February and it all seemed to be going well until I noticed a hard swelling in my stomach. This turned out to be a leak of fluid so I've had to stop dialysis until this heals. On the plus side , I'm getting a break from exchanges three times a day for a while.
