No protein in the urine but kidneys not improving

Hi all,
I am seeking advice. I have supposedly Kidney disease stage 3 due to decades of lithium intake; 6 month ago I have replaced lithium with another drug. My curreny GFR is 38 and three months ago I had GFR 44, the cretinine level is 134 (so more than 50umol/L above average). Furthermore, my recent Urine albumin test hasn't reported any anormality. What does it mean that I have no albumin in the urine? Is it a good sign? Is there anybody that can explain these readings?
Also, I have heard that Sodium bicarbonate can help healing the kidneys, has anybody had any first-hand experience with this? I would greately appreciate any help because I don't know what to do to heal my kidneys.
