I have been asked if it is possible for a transplanted patient ( kidney/pancreas) to emigrate to Australia from the UK.

I personally would have thought the answer would be no but if anyone knows someone who has done this or has knowledge of emigrating after transplantation i would like to hear from you

Australia is a particular case as it is still part of the commonwealth and GB has a reciprocal arrangement I beleive for dialysis and prescriptions.

HOWEVER. Immigration is a bit more permanent. I know someone who immigrated to Aus and there is a fairly strict 'points' system to become an Aus resident based on education, skills, employment/employability and health. How this affects a transplant patient I am not sure but presumably somewhere like Australia House in London (the Aus High Commision http://www.australia.org.uk/welcome/html/) and this site :http://www.immi.gov.au/

should get you some of the info you need and leads for contact etc.

Hope this helps.
