best working height for APD machine ?
hello again we are having some intermittent problems with my mothers(82 yrs) machine, for some reason around the time of the last drain cycle and before she has a last fill the machine stops with the alarm"check lines / bags" we then have to do a manual drain before we do the manual fill which is usually the last cycle, we have had the nurses show us the set up again and its the same procedure every time, we also thought it could be dodgy cassettes and changed batch, could it be position of bags or height of the machine? ,the check patient line alarm comes on sometimes but is sorted as soon as she moves position, we have also experienced this problem on another machine, any help with ideas or pointers would be appreciated , cheers Seumas
Re: best working height for APD machine ?
I don't think height of the machine is critical.
I assume it is a Baxter machine, contact their help line I am confident they will sort you out.
If not Baxter, other makers have help lines.

I sometimes have that problem if I am in a different position. Is she in a different position for the final drain?
Re: best working height for APD machine ?
I used to have to lie on my right side for the final drain. The other drains never seemed quite so critical. Sometimes if I was awake (which wasn't often) I would stand up for the final drain.
I understood that the ideal machine height was mattress level to 6" lower. I think I read this in the Baxter machine manual.
If you sort it let us know. I suspect it could be useful for others.

Mine was placed on a bedside table and sometimes the floor.
I found keeping the excess tube coiled up on the bed helped. But most people IKEA alarms came when constipated or just laid in a strange position.
