Evening Primrose Oil and Cod Liver Oil

Post by @Mediaminnie »

Hi there

Moving into my 5th year of post transplant I am more than ever trying to keep myself not only feeling well and healthy but looking healthy too. I am clean eating and having a high protein diet and taking daily mulitvitamins as well as herb and fibre every day. More than ever eating berries and seeds too however a friend of mine as well as all of the above takes Evening Primrose Oil and Cod Liver oil a day and looks fantastic (especially hair and skin).

I am not due to see my consultant for a while and was wondering if any other transplant patients take both or either of these supplements on a daily basis and safely.

Eagerly I have purchased the products in bulk but trying to do a little research before I start.

Thank you for reading.

Fish oil costs less than cod liver oil.
Evening primrose oil does not appear to offer any real benefits.

I take Evening Primrose oil capsules sometimes. Overall, for me, my instinct is that it's a mixed marginal overall benefit in moderation, but definitely not every day.

But we don't all metabolise things the same way and we arent all on the same meds. Ask your docs before trying anything new..even simple sounding and 'obviously sensible' things like fish oil may not be so simple as they appear!

The great thing about being transplanted and having a second go at life, is that i have been able to live these last 34 years to the max.

That includes ignoring food fads!

So no, none of that stuff.

I find a few glasses of nice wine with fun and congenial people, that interest me and make me laugh, is the way to stay healthy in mind and body :D :D :D :D
