Hi Davey,
We are all different but at 55% you should be OK.

Have you got your blood pressure down?
Is your red cell count low?
Have you checked the side effects of any medication you are on, information on the leaflet packed with them or Google drug name for info.
Exercise should help, a 20 min brisk walk (say four times per week) should help or anything to get your heart rate up a bit. Don't go mad at it, and if you have not been getting exercise for a while, start slow and build up. It will take about three weeks to show any results.

hi. my swelling did not really start until stage 4. you might want to speak to your doctor and really watch your sodium intake. diet can be a big help with that. most of the symptoms your experiencing I didn't have until my function fell into the 20's. Have you spoken to a dietitian or researched online about a kidney diet? some things you wouldn't think are bad, are not kidney friendly foods. it might help you feel a lot better to increase your water and decrease your sodium and look into a kidney friendly diet, if you haven't already. you can speak to your doctor about getting a diuretic if the swelling is really uncomfortable. but the diuretic itself can strip the kidneys and unless completely necessary probably should be avoided until later on in your disease. I think the kidney diet might help a lot. I hope this helped you a bit and I wish you the best. God bless.

Really obvious point, but are you getting enough protein? I was on a high protein diet for years because my kidneys were peeing it out. It's a bit different though as I was a child and still growing. Might be worth asking your neph.

Best of luck. I hope you manage to get your quality of life back.

Hi Davey,

quote " think red bloods is ok I never ask "

I think, you will find you will have to get involved with your case to get the best out of the NHS. If you are passive they will assume, all is well.

A low blood count will make you tired - some water pills (if you have been prescribed any) trigger the formation of uric acid crystals, these get into muscles and cause pain. Excess calcium clogs up fine blood vessels, this will likely show as pain.

Doe's your doctor know about your tiredness and pain, if not, see him/her and describe it all to them. I usually prepare a list of points I want to cover before I go to the doctors or the consultant. Dietary changes should be discussed with your medical team.
