Epo prefilled syringes

Post by AmandaClare »

Can people on epo tell me what I'm supposed to do with my used syringes? No one ever mentioned it and ive just been chucking them into a box, but I've now accumulated quite a few!

My council requires a GP referral to provide a sharps bin, which seems a faff.

Thanks

I am fairly sure your hospital will have a system for disposal for patients 'sharps'.

Where do you get your EPO from Amanda?

My syringes are delivered by a private company. They provide a sharps box and take it away when it's full.

MY EPO syringes are delivered by Fresenius, who will provide me with Sharps bins, and collect them as necessary.

However, I still had Sharps bins left over from when I was on APD, so I'm using those at the moment.

It's organised by the hospital and provided and delivered by Healthcare at Home.

You GP can prescribe "sharp guard" a bin for used needles and syringes. You can then contact the council to take it away as clinical waste. - well that's how it works here.

The people who deliver the EPO supply a yellow disposal box and they take it for disposal when it's full

Hello Amanda,

I also had my EPO delivered by heathcare at home, they should provide a sharps bin. Give them a call and they will bring you one.

I would have my EPO delivered at work and swap sharps bins in the car park like some sort of drug addict
Now 35 with Alports and I had my first kidney-versary 18th feb 2013....I hope to have many more.

My living donor and his family are doing all well.

Lol Richard.

Thank you all. I'm away for a long weekend but will call Healthcare at home tomorrow and see if I can get this sorted.
