As a rough rule of thumb, the effective cross-sectional area of the line inside is about half that of a Fistula.

Some types have an inlet and outlet tubes (inside the patient) others (older) types have one tube which alternates as inlet and outlet, controlled by a valve built into the external connector.

Yes, lets hope you don't have to resort to dialysis again for a long long time.
