Re: Staying Alive - book launch in aid of Kidney Research UK
My apologies if you've tried to access this book and found something completely different. Amazon have really messed it up and put all our reviews onto someone else's book, a Jason Cooper, not Alan and Jan Cooper. Please check it out till you find it and more reviews are always needed. Many thanks. ...

Re: PIP benefits
I was refused DLA before PIP was the benefit. As a home haemo patient who requires the help of someone else to be able to dialyse safely, and understanding what they're documents state, I appealed. This was not pursued by the Benefits agency as I quoted their own documentation and they just coughed ...

Re: NxStage dialysis
Hi Collette, If you want to go away and be able to dialyse where you stay eg in a caravan, it would be very good. For home use its a smaller kit from the Fresenius but does take space. I find the annoying bits are the time it takes to prime approx 35 mins, the 7.5 hours to fill the dialysate sack an...

I also have cinacalcet and will hang onto my parathyroid for dear life! Not something to be undertaken lightly as then you have other medication for life.

Re: Staying Alive - book launch in aid of Kidney Research UK
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has read this book or who is thinking about reading it. We now have more reviews. I thought our friends would be the only reviewers on Amazon, but that's not the case. We have lovely reviews from people who don't know us at all and that's really rewardin...

Re: Staying Alive - book launch in aid of Kidney Research UK
Thanks to Neil for putting this book onto the forum. The stories we have shared are all different and we have focused on what is positive as far as possible. We can't tell everyone's story, each kidney patient is different and their stories are different as well. We are getting good reviews like 'WO...

Re: My MUM talking about stopping dialysis
Hi there, it sounds like your mum is having a really tough time which must be so difficult for you. My understanding is that it is recommended that all patients need a minimum of 12 hours dialysis a week. From my own experience I found the machines used in the renal unit were leaving me completely w...

Kidney Research UK and the last story
Dear All,
Al James has written a trilogy for KRUK and the last story is now available on their new and updated website. All three stories are there and I think you will find them moving and inspiring. I have to say they have made me smile and shed a tear. Well worth a read.
Enjoy!
