Hi. The doc's put me on 2 medications to keep my BP down to 125/75, (it was 140/90) although it is usually much lower than that. The last time I had a reading it was 110/60, I think. This makes me feel very dizzy a lot, even when I'm standing there doing nothing but I'm told I have to put up with it...

Thanks for your replies. My creatinine clearance is 42 I believe. Somebody told me that if I fold my lower eyelid down the area will be white if I'm anemic. Honestly, it's hard to make a comparison because I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like anyway. I will try to get to my GP this week and ...

odd symptoms-anemia?
Hello again all. I have been having some disconcerting symptoms lately and was wondering if anyone here has experienced similar. I have been exhausted and short of breath and my chest aches, but I am having real trouble getting to sleep even though I feel so bad. I have been trying to rationalise th...

Andy, Hi. I've had acupuncture for carpel tunnel syndrome and it worked out really well for me. It took about 6 weeks of treatment to clear it up, and I occasionally have to go back for top-up treatments when my wrists start to twinge a bit. The only other options for treatment at the time were surg...

creatinine clearance and GFR
Hi..I have a quick question to ask you all as I have just been to my doc and, as usual, forgot to ask the important questions regarding the lab results he gave me. WHAT exactly is a creatinine clearance value of 42 in relation to GFR? I just started seeing a new dr. as my usual one moved away and th...

I had quite a few of thoses tests when I was a child due to my duplex kidney and reflux. My urologist always anaesthetised me for the insertion of the catheter because I was such a squeamish kid. Although I think it was probably just the thought of the procedure that was the actual problem. It's rea...

book
I ordered this book a while ago and found it really useful for explaining to me what happens through the various stages of the disease and what each medication is used for. It helped to answer a lot of questions when I was first diagnosed. Yes, it has a lot of info. on diet as well which will be use...

Hi again. My doc has never put me on any type of steroid at all. He decided against a biopsy as one kidney is very small and scarred and the other is only barely functioning.....so he's guessing on the fsgs diagnosis as he says that's what usually happens to kidneys as a result of reflux scarring. B...

Hi. I have been reading through this topic and what you have been saying about feeling awful, even though your lab results don't reflect this. I have been having the same problems (I have FSGS, the dr.'s think. 50% function). I am not on a kidney diet but I am sure food has something to do with the ...

sulpha allergy and hydrochlorothiazide
Hi everyone! I just wanted to ask if anyone here is allergic to sulpha and taken thiazide diuretics successfully? I am severely allergic to sulpha (needing adrenalin injection) and had been prescribed a thiazide diuretic, which is in the same drug family. I looked this prescription up on the interne...

It's amazing how often medical practitioners scare the pants off you unnecessarily. i can remember once my GP calling me on a Friday evening, when there was nothing much I could do about it anyway, after a 24-hour urine test to inform me that all was really really not good at all and I needed to see...
