Re: Gfr drops 18% in two weeks

Thank you for replying. My BP is only slightly higher than it should be so that's just being monitored. I do know the cause of kidney problem. I had my right kidney removed last September as it was blocked and full of UTI infected stones and I couldn't shake the infection. I was put on long term ant...

Gfr drops 18% in two weeks

I have had a dramatic drop in my GFR of 18% in just two weeks. The GP just said to have my bloods retested again (this seems to be her go to response and have had them repeated and repeated) but is not helping with the swelling to my face and ankles/hands. She said it will go away eventually, which ...

Re: Has anyone had to change career due to kidney issues?

Mrs Travis, As to mentioning your condition at interview - I think you must, if you get a job, you will not be able to hide your condition for long, and it will become plain to the employer you withheld the information. This leaves the employer with the thought, what else did you not tell them? Bet...

Re: Has anyone had to change career due to kidney issues?

When I discovered I had kidney problems I was a model. That was put on hold once I had a nefrostomy tube and drain fitted for ten months whilst I awaited surgery. Its now looking likely according to my GP that dialysis is not too far away. I asked a few questions but mostly got the response of spea...

Re: Has anyone had to change career due to kidney issues?

None of my business but who wants to be involved with such a vain bunch of people anyway? If you are a model human being you will have flows, we all do, it is a facet of human existence. I suspect you are attractive, why would one body line make a difference? Before I got sick, my partner had a kid...

Re: Nephrectomy Recovery?

I've been doing really well and felt I'd turned a corner up until about a week ago. I've been getting a lot of pain and swelling around the area where my kidney would have been. At first I thought it was because my jeans were too tight but the last few days I have purposely worn leggings to see if ...

Re: Nephrectomy Recovery?

Mrs Travis How are you feeling now? I am now 4 weeks post op and feeling exhausted. Not alot of pain, only if I lie on the side of the op. I did end up going to the GP last week as my hands and feet were itching so badly and he thought that it could be my remaining kidney not getting rid of the Uri...

Re: Nephrectomy Recovery?

I had my right kidney removed in September this year. Was discharged after 2 days and felt uncomfortable but not pain. I do get tired very quickly now but finding my new normal has taken a few months. Am so relieved to be rid of tubes and drains though. So be patient with yourself. My surgeon didn't...

Re: suggestion... how about introducing ourselves??

Hi everyone My name is Kay, I am a 41 female, who was diagnosed back in December 2014 with a stone filled infected right kidney. The stones were due to UTI infections which were mistreated by my GP and I had to have a nephrostomy tube and bag fitted due to it being completely blocked and infected. I...
