Hi,
All of my glands were removed as they were all hugely enlarged and have had no ill effects.
I was briefly put on a calcium supplement, but that was raising my calcium levels too much. All I take now is a small dose of alfacalcidol.
Hope this helps
Regards

The way I read the letter, this was going to be a permenant thing. [quote][In future you will be asked each time you attend transplant clinic how much medication you reqire until your next clinic appointment. Forms will be available in transplant clinic to help you write this down. Your home deliver...

Re: Adoport (generic tacro)
Got my letter today from Southmead. Not sure about the counting of what drug supply I have before each appointment though, surely the hospital can work that out when they send the precriptions to be made up? Will be keeping a close eye on my results though, especially as I was told post transplant t...

I'm based at Southmead at Bristol and I use RPV and think it is a wonderful tool.
It saves the worry after a clinic visit of what your blood results are.

Hello,
Diagnosed with HUS in 1975 and was transplanted in 2007 as a live pre-emptive donation, therefore no dialysis, which is 32 years.
Had many "blips" in this time, but always managed to pull through
Hope this helps
Take care

Re: IV iron infusion advice please
Hello, I had an iron infusion last week! If I remember rightly, the first takes about 5 hours as they take it very slowly to make sure you are not having any side effects. The one I had last week, took 3.5 hours as I have had quite a few. It will take a couple of weeks to kick in and benefit from it...

Hi,
I have just look on Renal Patient View and it does shown as FERR and my last reading which was in January was 274, so at the moment my levels are fine.

Re: IV Iron
I was told that they will do IV iron when your Ferritin (Iron Stores) drip to below 101.
Hope this helps

I agree with you Sanela.
I keep reporting them, but they still keep popping up. Maybe I was naive to them before, but they seem very noticeable now.
Hope all is well.

Re: An important message for all UK kidney transplant patien
After my transplant, I was told by the renal pharmacist that I should only ever have branded immunosupressants and to make my local pharmacy aware of this As it turns out, I have mine dispatched directly from the Healthcare at Home (I take Prograf and Pred) which the Renal Outpatients set up for me....

Re: Post-Transplant EPO
I take epo post transplant. I tried for about 3 months after my transplant without it and struggled. I now take a very small dose, fortnightly and this keeps my levels just right. Be aware that you will probably need fairly regular iron infusions as epo uses up all your "stored iron" It ha...
