Re: Flu Jab Immune Supressed ?
On a similar query. My son (2 years old) is getting the live nasal vaccine. Any one had any issues or been advised that a close relative shouldn't get the nasal version when someone in the family is immunosuppressed?

Re: bbc programme
I thought it was a great programme!! I actually had my transplant at the Glasgow Western, the hospital in the show, just over a year ago. It was really bizarre seeing the all surgeons and nursing staff again in the environment. I certainty found parts of it quite emotional and really hard to watch a...

Re: Dialysis while waiting for donor assessement?
Well, after a roller coaster ride waiting for my dad to go through nearly every test possible - his biopsy came back clear last week and we have been given a date for surgery this weekend!! After months and months of re-testing, its amazing how quickly things have now swung into motion. Its all beco...

Re: Dialysis while waiting for donor assessement?
Many thanks for all your replies. Its really helpful to hear other peoples experiences. Yeah, I wasn't sure whether they would go ahead with inserting a PD catheter if a transplant may be likely within the next 3/4 months or so. Sounds like its down to the particular doctor and your own timescales, ...

Dialysis while waiting for donor assessement?
Afternoon everyone, I was just wondering at what stage most people needed to start dialysis? My dad is being re-assessed as a pre-emptive donor (He was previously given the go ahead 2 years ago after initial testing - but now needs reassessed). The re-assessments however, are throwing up a number of...

Re: Tx...Making the decision!
Hi Scott, Its amazing how similar a lot of our experiences have been. Headaches led to my diagnosis as well in Jan 2011 when I was 29. I was about 22% at the time and my dad volunteered to donate his kidney. We went through all the cross matching procedures 2 years ago and then I remained relatively...

Re: suggestion... how about introducing ourselves??
Hello. I have just come across the forum recently and noticed this thread. I'm 32 and was diagnosed with CKD in Jan 2011. Kidney function was 22% ish at the time but no real diagnosis of what caused my disease. Function has steadily been dropping and is now down to 12%. I'm in the very lucky positio...

Re: Problems with eyes?
Thanks for replies. I've been to the optician before about it and those tests seem to be fine. I'll mention to nephrologist when I see them later this week to see what they say.
Grey, I'm 32 btw. Also thanks for the story

Problems with eyes?
Hi all. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with their eyes as their kidney function deteriorated? I'm at 12% function now and have developed blepharitis, which I can't seem to shift. It is manageable but I sometimes feel that my vision is blurry. As is always the case now, I nev...

Re: Skiing and other energetic activities!
Hi Dixie, I'm 32 and was diagnosed with CKD in Jan 2011 with an egfr of 22% and I'm now down to 12%. Over the past several years I have tried not to let this disease get the better of me and have continued to ski every year, run several charity races, played 5s, achieved my black belt in karate and ...
